I graduated from White Water High School in Fayetteville, Ga. in 2010. However, I spent most of my childhood in Mississippi.
After high school I attended USF -- Go Bulls!
I studied advertising, marketing and public relations throughout my college experience. I graduated with a degree in PR from USF's College of Mass Communications.
The PR degree follows the journalism track, and I fell in love with writing.
In my senior year, I started an internship with a Tampa Bay news TV station, WFLA, after my journalism professor suggested broadcasting as a career choice.
My professor took an interest in my ability to brainstorm and choose relevant topics, and then follow up with proper research and pertinent interviews to pull together articles.
He selected a few of my pieces to be published in the student-run newspaper. That year I decided to apply to careers within the news industry. I was hired at Action News Jax a month after graduation.
I am forever grateful for my experience at USF. My professors were amazing and took an interest in my future.
They pushed me to be the best version of myself and taught me that, like most things in this world, you get out what you put in.
I also made amazing life-long friends.
